Christian W. Huber

Christian W. Huber is one of the seven Citizen Reviewers selected from the 2017 Open Call application. He has been invited to continue on in the 2018 cycle.

Christian has been away from the theatre scene for over ten years as he focused his time in running and managing the family business of Boncafé International Pte Ltd – A Pioneering Gourmet Coffee Roasting and Manufacturing Company in Singapore. Christian stepped down from the company earlier this year to pursue his other interests and to spend time with his family of four. He continues to look after another family business, as well as to pursue his renewed interest in the arts.

Christian is a C42 Boiler Room 2016 playwright, and enjoys being an audience member to different mediums of the arts. He finds arts invigorating to the soul, and truly believes that the vibrant arts scene has come a long way from its humble beginnings. He looks forward to appreciating, experiencing, and exploring more of it as a Citizen Reviewer!

Jevon Chandra is one of the three Citizen Reviewers selected from the 2018 Open Call application.

Jevon wants to spend more time with words, so as to understand, communicate, and listen better. He recently graduated from Yale-NUS College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Humanities, and currently aspires to be a full-time artist and musician.

He is interested in observing and sensing how time and stories unfold in theatre, as opposed to in durational works of art or in songs. And, perhaps, on not an unrelated note, thoughts on community service and social engagement – how one can best be ready and able to aid directly and effectively – also occupy his mind.

Jeremiah Choy is one of the 14 Citizen Reviewers selected from the 2016 Open Call application. He has been invited to continue on in the 2017 cycle.

Jeremiah loves going to the theatre. He believes that theatre is a place where one can suspend (even for a short while) reality through myth, mystery and magic making. Theatre is for everyone, regardless of age, education and background. There is theatre around us, all over.  While not directing, curating or producing a show, he enjoys penning his thoughts through Jereisms and Jeresop Fables.

Jeremiah is a trained lawyer who went full time into the arts in 1997. He was the Artistic Curator of Play Den Productions (2009 to 2014), a platform to create theatre pieces that are looking for the Singapore voice with a universal and global appeal. He also directed Sing50, a concert that celebrates Singapore’s Golden Jubilee; ChildAid Concerts (2011 to 2015); Singapore Day (Sydney 2013, Shanghai 2015); Spotlight Singapore (Cape Town 2011,  Bratislava and Prague 2012, Mexico City 2015); and Gender and Sexuality, Studio 50 (2015). He is still pursuing his passion as a living and loving it.

Liu Chang

Liu Chang is one of the seven Citizen Reviewers selected from the 2017 Open Call application.

Liu Chang is a novelist who would like to explore the theatre scene, and decided to do so by becoming a reviewer. She believes that the roles of novelist and reviewer are complementary and they inspire each other, as both shed light on the monumental and personal chapters in history, as well as the ambiguity of human nature.

Why theatre? Over the years, Neo Hai Bin experienced the theatre’s power to question, transform, create, and develop social awareness. He started off as a member of “ARTivate”, the youth wing of Drama Box. Now a freelance theatre practitioner, he has worked with Drama Box, The Theatre Practice Lab, Nine Years Theatre, The Finger Players, The Necessary Stage.

His performances include Bondage, Shh.. (Forum Theatre), Mulan (children’s theatre), Dua Dai Ji (Mockumentary Theatre), 11: Gao Xing Jian Devised (TTP Lab), Life Choices (Monologue), An Enemy of the People, Upstream, etc.

Why theatre?某天,有人给他当头棒喝:并非剧场需要我,而是我需要剧场。

海彬目前是「九年剧场演员组合计划」的创建及核心组员。他写的文字亦收入在:thethoughtspavilion.wordpress.com

Selina Chong

Selina Chong is one of the seven Citizen Reviewers selected from the 2017 Open Call application.

Selina loves the theatre and its ability to engage, enrapture, and entertain. The magic of the stage never ceases to create joy and wonder for her. The potential of the theatre to educate also dovetails with her teacher duties and she wishes more young people had time to watch a show instead of attend another tuition lesson.

When she has some spare time, Selina reads, cooks, and watches too much Netflix. When she has some spare cash, she travels and plots new run-away plans. She’s also plays often and is secretly training to be a circus aerialist. Selina wishes for more time to practice her yoga and recognises that she’s responsible for making time to practice yoga. Despite this, she’s glad she can still touch her toes and hopes to reach the stars.
